Where local businesses leak money

The work isn't the problem. The systems around it are.

People can't find you.

Your Google profile is half-filled or missing, and the website is dated or slow. When someone searches your trade plus your town, they call whoever shows up first.

Visibility — Get found first

Google Business Profile done right, plus a fast, modern site that makes it easy to call, book, or get a quote.

Leads go cold.

Missed calls. Replies that take a day. Quotes that never get a follow-up. The business that answers first usually wins the job.

Follow-Up — Never drop a lead

Missed-call text-back, instant responses, quote reminders, review requests — and one simple place where every lead lives.

Everything runs through you.

Scheduling, quotes, invoices, review requests — it all routes through your phone and your memory. It works until you're busy, and you're always busy.

Automation — Kill the busywork

We connect the tools you already use so information moves itself. AI where it genuinely helps, never as a gimmick.

Not sure which leak is yours? That's what the audit is for.

Custom Internal Tools

When off-the-shelf doesn't fit.

Approval workflows, scheduling boards, job trackers, and dashboards built around how your operation actually runs. Every custom build starts with a paid Blueprint.

Also on the menu: Content System — templates, AI-assisted drafting, and a scheduler built for a monthly batching rhythm. Ongoing management available separately.

The Local Growth Systems Audit

  • A scored report on your visibility, follow-up, and operations — what's working, what's leaking, what it's likely costing you.

  • A prioritized fix list: the two or three changes worth the most, first.

  • A straight recommendation. Fix it yourself, hire anyone you want, or have us build it — the audit is useful either way.

  • Measurement

45–60 minute working session → systems review → scored report → 30–45 minute readout. Delivered within 3 business days of the session, once we have the access we need.

$500 flat

Founding rate: $250 for our first five audit clients

100% credited toward any project of $1,500 or more within 60 days. If we build together, the audit was free.

How it works

Audit. Build. Run.

01

Audit

We find the leaks and rank them by what they're worth. You get the full report either way.

02

Build

We fix the highest-value leaks first — profile, site, follow-up, automations — in scoped projects with clear prices.

Fixed deliverables, two revision rounds, documentation, and a 14-day bug-fix warranty.

03

Run

Systems drift. We can keep yours tuned month to month, or hand everything off clean with documentation. Your call.

Systems Care (Care / Care Plus / Care Pro) available for ongoing tuning — optional, covers what we've built, cancels anytime.

Everything we build is in your name — accounts, domain, phone number, data. Fire us anytime and keep all of it.

Who's behind this

Backbone Ops didn't start as an agency. It started inside a real business.

Ben co-runs the systems side of a rental management company on the South Carolina coast — 13 owner clients across short- and long-term rentals — covering guest messaging, dynamic pricing, cleaning operations, and owner reporting. The systems Backbone Ops builds for clients are the same ones keeping that business running right now.

Backbone Ops is based in Glenville, North Carolina, and works with businesses anywhere. You'll always talk to the person doing the work.

The industry changes, but the operating problems repeat: leads, scheduling, handoffs, communications, payments, reviews, reporting.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers.

Local and small service businesses — detailing, trades, property services, cleaning, maintenance, hospitality — plus established operations-heavy companies that need custom internal tools. If your growth is limited by systems rather than skill, you're the right fit.

Usually. The audit keeps us from prescribing tools before we understand the problem. When the need is narrow and already well defined, we can sometimes scope a build directly — we'll tell you straight either way.

The audit is $500 flat — $250 at our founding rate for the first five audit clients — and it's fully credited toward any project of $1,500+ within 60 days. Build work is scoped after the audit, so you're never buying a mystery.

It depends on scope, integrations, access, and how fast feedback comes back. Every proposal includes a defined timeline, what we need from you, revision rounds, and a clear handoff point — agreed before any work starts.

No. Everything is explained in plain English, we handle the wiring, and you get trained on anything you'll actually touch.

Yours, wherever possible — Google, your scheduler, your invoicing, your CRM (customer relationship manager — the one place your leads and customers live). We only recommend switching tools when the switch pays for itself.

Some of it — and the audit will tell you honestly which parts. AI is great at drafting, summarizing, and accelerating defined work. It doesn't by itself give you dependable workflows, permissions, approvals, or a system your team actually follows. We use AI heavily in our own builds — but what you're buying is the system around it.

You do. Everything is built in your name — accounts, domain, phone number, data, and the deliverables themselves. After final payment it's all yours, whether or not we keep working together.

No — subscriptions like your booking tool, review software, or phone system are billed directly to you, in your own accounts, at cost. We don't mark up or resell tools, and because everything is in your name, you keep it all no matter what. Trimming zombie subscriptions is part of the audit.

No. Every build is handed off with documentation so you can run it yourself or have anyone maintain it. Care exists for owners who'd rather not think about it.
